The hassles of moving are enough to stress out anyone. There are so many things to plan and take care of that it’s easy to let certain things fall between the cracks. A survival kit is one of the best things for anybody going through a move of any kind.

This kit has all the essentials you’ll likely need for the first week or so of living in your new place. Preparing these items can reduce the stress of unpacking luggage and boxes to find something. Here are some of the items you need in your moving day survival kit to help get you through the first few days.

Toiletries and Bathroom Items

Nothing will make you feel worse while moving than neglecting your grooming. After getting settled in your new place, you’ll probably want to take a hot shower and get yourself clean. Pack a small bag with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, toothpaste, and other toiletries. It’s a good idea to put liquids in disposable plastic baggies so that they don’t ruin anything if they burst.

Grab some towels and a few rolls of toilet paper, as well. Maintaining good hygiene while you move in can help you stay refreshed throughout the process.

Enough Clothes To Get By

Pack at least five complete outfits to get through the first few days in your new home. You should also pack some sleeping clothes and seasonal wear you might need, such as a jacket and a hat.

If you find a reputable moving company, you hopefully won’t have to wait too long for the rest of your stuff to arrive. Still, having spare clothes with you can make a big difference, especially if your clothes get dirty while moving.

Physical Entertainment

When thinking about what items you need in your moving day survival kit, it’s always a good idea to bring along some physical entertainment. Streaming is commonplace these days, but you may not have Internet set up in your new place right away. Bring along some DVDs, books, video games, or other ways to entertain yourself.

Make sure you bring along whatever hardware you need to enjoy these things, and always pack a spare charger for your cell phone and other electronic devices. Keeping yourself entertained in your downtime can make a big difference and help you unwind during this stressful time.

Helpful Kitchenware

While you may enjoy a few days of pizza and takeout while settling into your new place, you should eventually cook homemade meals and have enough kitchenware to do it. Bring along a few pots and pans, plates, bowls, and utensils to prepare basic meals and eat healthy while you unpack.

Personal Essentials

You should also remember to bring along any personal essentials that you need day to day. Think about security items, medications, or anything that you’ll definitely need as soon as you set foot in your new place.

Prepping a moving day survival kit makes the process go a lot more smoothly and helps those first few days not feel like such a hassle. Carefully pack and label your things, and have them readily available so you can grab them before saying goodbye to your previous adobe.
